HERE I will be providing a link to my Life-Choice Memoir and the blog post that helped me channel my inner writer and played a part in my writing process. I thought a process had to be something all out and extra a long process but it doesn't have to be I found my process happens to be taking a hot shower putting on my fuzzy pajamas getting a snack and just writing then deleting and writing some more.
A memoir is a biography written from personal experience also known as creative non-fiction a true story well told. From the moment this assignment was given I knew exactly what I was going to write about. The topic was write a memoir about a major life choice where I had to make a difficult decision a life changing decision and all I could think was boy did this assignment hit home not because I had a good story to tell but because at the very moment this assignment was given I was faced with this difficult choice to make I was scared I was alone and I felt this was a good way to let my emotions out it was a sign so I followed my instincts.
Starting this memoir wasn't easy there was a lot of second guessing and pretending by pretending I mean during the time this assignment was given my difficult choice I had to make I hadn't made it yet because I was still living it you can imagine how hard it was to sit in a class and write about something that you are in fact going through at that exact moment especially during the reading of Hills Like White Elephants (Ernest Hemingway I felt like a sinner in church during this class like everything was being directed towards me which almost discouraged me to change my topic but I decided to stick with my topic and tell my truth. I am aware that my first draft is well over the required amount of words but I thought my first draft should be me getting my story out that's the point of a first draft right to make mistakes.
